The image du corps: like the Freudian Ego-Ideal: an image that the self has formed as a necessary intermediary between the self and the unknowable outside reality of the body, organizing relations through the mediation of images. The self image is the center of one’s being, an interface to the world; it is what you use to negotiate the world.

 

 The image de corps: the sensing, processing body that processes and produces the world, the body is at the same time a mirror or screen for images from the outside and the perceptive center; the body is “what takes shape at the center of perception”.  It is a moving boundary between inside and outside, past and future.
